Did you see the news item yesterday, an elderly couple had a shock when they returned from holiday to find that all their post and papers have been picked up from the doorstep and have been neatly stacked on the hall table.
There was a smell of cigarette smoke, the trail of smoke led the husband to their bedroom, where they found someone asleep in their bed!
It seems a burglar has entered the house through the window and has made himself home! He has cleaned the house, and bought some food from the supermarket, which he was cooking for himself in their kitchen.
They decided not to press charges,as they said the man has spent more on the food he bought and has only used the premies to cook and sleep.
the lady was very pleased that the house was neat and clean, and it seems there was even fresh chicken left in the kitchen ,which the couple were pleased to use!
I wonder what will any of us do in such circumstances?
Since I have been training with the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), I have realised what a sheltered life I have lived.
Homelessness can and does happen to anyone, often due to circumstances beyond their control. And how miserable it is ,not to have a roof on their head ,or a place to belong to. Those of us who have been lucky, I can only speak for myself, I have taken the good things in life for granted, may be because we both have never been without a job and have lived responsibly, but there are no guarantees in life.
As they say,but for the Grace of God go I.
