According to the Meteorological calendar, today is the FIRST day of spring. The Astronomical calendar however declares the 21st of March to be the first day of Spring.

So how do you settle the argument? Today on R4 they were asking people to send pictures from all parts of the country and to look around to see if they have any signs of spring.

From Scotland to Cornwall, people reported varying signs.

This are mine from Somerset. I would love to hear what you can see, it is a shame you cant post pictures in the comments, but may be a description will do.

These are the daffodils tete-a tete, in my front garden.

The early iris ,which are now disappearing.

My Camellia in full bloom.

My new patio, this was completed yesterday.

At the moment it is bathed in bright sunshine.

This the other patio which is by the house.

Am sure some of you will tell me that when so much going on in the world I should be talking of this “trivia” ! But hey the sun is shining and the birds are singing, so let us agree and celebrate the 1st day of spring!

That will be the first!!!
